Today is the big day we've all been waiting for! Ubi Soft Montreal has unleashed the Raven Shield demo upon us, and we'll all be suffering from sleep deprivation the next few days.

NOTE: This huge 155MB demo is multiplayer only and requires a broadband (cable or DSL) connection to play. (Dial-up modems are not supported.) Also, the demo must be played on Ubi.com's online gaming service.

Here's a list of mirrors:
  • GameSpy's FilePlanet
  • 3D Gamers (My favorite) - BACK ONLINE
  • Ubi Soft Japan
  • FileShack - BACK ONLINE
  • AusGamers

After you get a chance to try it out, let us know what you think of it here!

POS does not work - Ghost Recon does not work. I can remember a time when all Red Storm products would/could run on a two slice toaster they were made so damn well.

Now RS wont work, GR wont work and I am confident Splinter Cell will suck much ass too.

I have a new puter. Its just not INTELL, so I guess I'm to be excluded from the fun.

Is this just multiplayer or is there somewhere to play single mission?

Well sounds like a POS driver alert problem to me

I'm 5 minutes away from being down with the download. I'll post my comments then. It seems like you have to create an account with Ubi to play online and their registration servers may be pretty crowded.

As with any new game, make sure your video card and sound card drivers are updated as well as your OS updates found at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com.

By the way, Splinter Cell on the Xbox totally rocks! ...best game I have played in a while.

Well I could possibly be the hardest person to impress, and I love it. It is very much like R6 to me, just on steroids. :)

I put the Cyn, in Saint

    Err, something like that.

---Yeah he used to put a wrench, a stick and a belt on the table and just say..choose. Well, I gotta go with the belt there, Vanna. Yeah, I used to go with the wrench. The wrench, why? Cus' F*** him, thats why.---

    .
Some of the sites have a Cease and Desist notice from Ubi Soft Entertainment, which I think is REALLY stupid move one their part!

Com'on already we have waited long enough. Don't give crappy gamespy exclusive, or any site for that matter! Screw them!

We all gonna get it anyways, so why only allow one site to take on the whole R6/RS/GR community to download it from their servers? STUPID!!! It's already taking forever to download it!

Com'on ubit soft... Why are you making a stupid move? Gamespy sucks, and a lot of ppl hate it!

Yeah, the cease and desist thing is really sad news. I put my thoughts in the following news post.

Hmm ... I guess GameSpy has the U.S. exclusive, but it appears you can try non-U.S. servers with better luck like AusGamers.

all drivers were updated,so no POS drivers. What could another excuse or reason be? When you write Tech support its like dropping your email into a black hole.

I took the time to ask around the game lobbies and in some games of RS/BT/UO and found lots of folks who got one kind of General Protection Fault or another. Gee its nice to have company.

Still, it sounds like you guys all were lucky enough to get it running. So my question is this - of those of you with success, how many are using Athlon XP systems?

    thanks.

Yo, we will try our best to help you out. We need a bit more info from you though. To start with:
    - CPU brand and speed (Intel, AMD, is it overclocked)
    - RAM amount
    - Video card and driver version number
    - Sound card
    - Operating System (Win 98SE, WinXP)
    - Do you have DirectX 8.1 installed?

Well maybe you can help me. All I see are the doors. I cant see any of the walls. The walls are an off-white in color and blend together, so there is no depth. I have tried changing my settings and updating the video drivers. I have P4 1.4 with 640MB ram on Win XP system. Its not overclocked or anything. I have a GeForce4 TI 4600 using the 40.72 drivers. My sound card is a Hercules Monster Sound. I do have DirectX 8.1 installed.

I have an AthlonXP 1800+ and an MSI K7t Turbo2 mobo... Things run perfectly fine!

    I also have DX8.1, and the 3.0.8.2 drivrs for my GF4 MX440.

If you have probs with a "video" issue, I would try older drivers, like the 30.xx series, or Beta drivers from http://www.guru3d.com/files/

Well I've tried new drivers but that didnt work. Its alomst like there aren't any textures for the wall. I found 2 different demos and have tried both of them with no luck.

    Hmmm . . .

    Try this:

Right Click desktop-->properties-->settings-->advanced-->GeForce4 Ti4200-->Direct3D--> Set your Anisotropic setting to 8x and your Mipmap level to high performance.

    See if that does anything.
