Hey. I have a serious problem with this computer... it's about 2 years old with a GeForce4 MX 420 PCI version because it doesn't have an AGP slot. It's a Gateway computer and I need a AGP slot but I can't afford a new computer.

Any suggestions for new motherboards?

Thanks.

Hey red rum, I wouldn't suggest upgrading your motherboard unless you REALLY know what you're doing (meaning that you know how to put a computer together from scratch). There is a chance if you have an older CPU that it may not work with new motherboards out there. Also, a 3rd party motherboard may have trouble fitting into a proprietary Gateway case. Then you need to reformat and reinstall your OS/apps.

There are a number of good choices for faster PCI cards. Check out this excellent list here:

If you still want AGP, you would be better off buying a new case, cpu anyway, because you will have to replace both your mobo and graphics card. Then move over your sound card, hard drive, optical drives etc.

I'm lovin my MSI mobo's.

I've always loved Abit.

If you're upgrading your mobo, why not upgrade the proc, ram etc? What vid card do you have?

You have to think about the compatibility of your componets when you're upgrading to a new mobo. It's usualy hard to upgrade just the mobo unless your hardware already is compatable.
