The Radeon 9000 is likely faster, but can only do DirectX 8 games (which is fine for most games these days).

The GeForce FX 5200 is slower, but can do some DirectX 9 effects (but even most DX9 games will run with a DX8 card but may not look as nice).

In the end, it depends what kind of games you play. If you play first-person shooters, it's better to get a faster card for smoother frame-rates. The Radeon 9000 would be a better choice for most of today's shooters. If you play RTS's, RPG's, or sims, it doesn't matter which card you get.

Personally, I'd upgrade your motherboard to one with an AGP slot and get a Radeon 9600 :-) The i845PE motherboards are quite cheap now.

If you can't upgrade your mobo, I would get the Radeon 9000 Pro. I've recommended it to about 3 friends and they've all been happy with it. However, make sure you get the one built by ATI, and get the "Pro" version.
