Why is there nothing the matter with the monitor? Is it new?

Did you test the monitor on another box?

Make sure the vid card is FIRMLY seeded into the mobo. It may be slightly out, and causing this.

Check your fan on the FX 5200 and make sure it spins while the computer is on ... it could be the graphics chip overheating. Also, try an older graphics card in the slot to see if the slot is the problem.

I've tested my monitor on a different PC and is working fine. The Graphics card seems to be firmly in place.

The GeforceFX5200 card doesnt have a fan. I had a geforce 2 card in before in the slot and that worked fine.

(Not familiar with the card, just problems like this)

Do you have multiple outputs on the card? If so, unplug the extra outputs before starting up.

Also, try going into safe-mode (press f8 a lot while starting up) and seeing if that'll boot up fine. then, from there, try changing the settings for your desktop resolution (lower it), change the power management settings, etc.

FYI: I believe that your card does have a fan... in fact i think the FX line takes up 2 slots because of the size of the fan (even your budget-line 5200). You may not be able to see it directly because of plastic casing, though.
