Well, it's December 28, and I have set a New Years Resolution already. In fact I'm already working on it.
My resolution to myself is to write and complete a 120 page screenplay (1 page = roughly 1 minute of film) and submit it to some Screenwriting contests.
Winning would be a perk, but just finishing one would be a big step forward. It'd also help me even to start getting my foot in the door of the film industry.
Like I said at the top, I already started. I'm currently at 17 pages written, and I've been writing when I can for since yesterday. I finished 8 pages yesterday, and I'm on track to finish 10 more pages tonight. At this pace I'll complete the first draft done in about 2 weeks. That gives me quite some time to do an edit before the first contest deadline on March 1.
The story is a sci-fi family film. I do like them but not as much as I like Sci-Fi action and war films. Unfortunatly those dont really win "any-genre" contents. maybe a really good true story war screenplay but usually any war story worth telling has already been purchased.
My story isn't in your face sci-fi, but it is about the future and stuff. So far people have responded well to it so I'm crossing my fingers.
UPDATE: I wrote this last night but forgot to post it till this afternoon; I managed to get to 19 total pages last night, and I'm working on it again today. So far so good. :) |
