In perhaps what was the most unheralded launch of a Rainbow Six title since R6: Lone Wolf for PS1 (i.e. a tiny press release, no official forums, and a last minute official website), Rainbow Six: Critical Hour has appeared on store shelves - at least I saw a copy locally this morning ;-)
The only review around the 'net we can find at this time is here at Team Xbox.
>Hmmm, is this basically Lockdown with "classic" R6 maps?
Not sure if your question was rhetorical , but I don't think anyone can fairly comment on your question without having played and compared both LD and CH on the Xbox.
I just picked up Lockdown Xbox for half price a couple days ago and gave it a spin last night. It is WAY different than the PC version - after all it's on a different engine and dev team (Ubi Montreal), and I wish those people complaining that Lockdown is too "dumbed down" tried the Xbox version first.
I agree with you CR6, IMHO PC version of LD should deserve much more credit. Anyway back to the topic do we know at least on which engine CH is based on? Any idea of the plot? Even if I don't have a consolle I like to hear plots inspired by Tom Clancy's subject :)
>Anyway back to the topic do we know at least on which engine CH is based on?
It's a good educated guess that CH is using the same engine that Lockdown Xbox used (Unreal Engine 2?)
>Any idea of the plot?
I don't think there is any overall story arc. It's kind of a "best of" compilation of Rainbow's previous missions. The little story there is can be found in the press release: "The End of an Era - Rainbow Six Critical Hour's storyline bids on nostalgia as John Clark retires and passes the torch to his son-in-law Ding Chavez."
