Well can you belive it.. My wifes durango & my truck were both involved in an accident last night... Geesh glad I had insurance. Here is what happened...
My wife was babysitting over night for her employers good friend (currently she is a nanny).. Anyway, I ended up going over there to help her entertain 4 kids (ages 7-12).. I was about to leave the house; about 10:15pm, when I heard this loud crash, then another right outside the door. I ran outside, and saw a s-10 pickup driving up and down the street on its rims. And there was a blue ford taurus trying to block it in. It seems that the s-10 rear-ended the ford taurus and did not stop, so the taurus chased him into our neighborhood. They ended up on the street where we were, wich probably had about 40 houses on it, with a dead end at each end. Anyway, the s-10 must have been drunk, but anyway he was trying to get away from the taurus, in the process of driving down the street, he hit one of the cars of the owner of the house we were babysitting for, then went to the dead end, turned around. My truck was parked on the other side of the street from the durango. (I saw most of this happen btw). He tried to navigate between my dodge ram & the durango, but with no rims, it made it a little difficult. He ended up clipping my bumper (the only damage is he scrached off chrome on my bumper & scratched my light), talk about a tuff truck (mine), unfortunatly it caused him to swerve over into my wife's durango :(.. Her car was not as forunate. It hit it right around where you pump gas on the rear quarter panel. Actually his tire hit her tire, rode up thru the quarterpanel & smashed the bumper (that is a total loss - the bumper). Anyway, it continued on its path, thru a yard, over a for sale sign, thru 2 mailboxes. And ended up going down the street the other way, anyway he eventually ended up trying to leave, with no tires, and sparks flying everwhere, he drove thru a yard, missing a fire hydrend by about 4". And drove out of the neighborhood, the taurus then followed. I was already on the phone to the police when it happened, and unfortunatly it was a busy night, and it was the middle of a shift change. Fortunatly, I had seen which way BOTH cars went, and the police found both cars. The driver of the taurus was still in his car. but the driver of the s-10 had bailed and ran off (unfortunatly they did not find him). Fortunatly the dummy left his cell phone, wallet, and a few other things in his car. The kicker on this. When the police officer showed up, he asked what house we were in, & the owners of the house. I told him, and he handed me a bunch of mail... Apparently they found the mail in the back of the pickup truck.. When he hit the mailbox, it exploded, and left a bunch of 'evidence' in his bed of the truck.> heheheh..
So the police know who he is, and will be writing up a report. Apparently the officer is going to write up the report like this. The first accident with the taurus.. Rear ending a car - s-10 fault Leaving the scene of an accident The 2nd,3rd,4th accident & property damage as Wreckless damage to personal property (criminal charges) Leaving the scene of an accident.
I hope this guy gets caught, I already called my insurance, but man, what a horrible night.
In the meantime while waiting for the police to show up, Christina told me she wanted me to stay there the night because the kids might need me. So we called her parents to put our dog into its cage inside, Unfortunatly, In all the excitement, I had forgotten I had set the alarm. So her parents goto our house, go in, and then the alarm goes off.. Geesh, in a game of cat & mouse trying to get ahold of the alarm company (they called the house, but her parents did not know our code), the police in rowlett were dispatched.. Man o' man, what a night.. Anyway at least everyone is safe..
I thought this might be an interesting story to share.. |

| Man, that's some crazy stuff. Bad coincidence that you were both parked on the same street as this was happening. Got any pictures? |

| Oh man, the poor officer :) The drunks were out in force last night. I arrested one that drove down 75, 190 and Preston on the rim with no front tire. Totally messed the car up. Luckily the driver didn't strike anyone else and only damaged their own property. |

| Yeah not much fun, actually there were 3 officers investigating this.. Crazyness. Did $600 damage to my truck, and probably about 3000-4000 to christinas durango. Unfortunatly until they get the police report, this is just a colision accident, so I have 2x 500 deductibles to pay. I might just pay her's and leave mine as is.. Hopefully he is insured.. If not I have 2x250 to pay.. Geesh. Dang drunks, what was up with drunks last night? |
