Sorry for the recent lack of updates. Interestingly, despite the fact that we haven't updated our news for over two weeks since the start of the war in Iraq, our stats show that during this period, interest in our site is at its highest since the beginning of the year. Thanks to the thousands of readers who continue to visit and support this site daily.
Personally, one of the reasons for the lack of updates lately is that it feels kinda wierd to be posting news about a war game after watching the real thing unfold on TV every evening. I wonder if others find it disturbing when people on TV compare watching the real-time war coverage to "watching a video game".
In any case, both CNN and Reuters have reported that the war in Iraq has not turned people off war games, but may have actually increased interest. A poll at VE3D is currently asking "In light of recent events, do you feel more or less inclined to play military themed games?" currently shows "No change" at 64% "More" at 24% and "Less" at 12% with 4200 votes so far.
We'd be interested in your comments on any of the above. |

Kind of off topic, but has anyone considered that UbiSoft is a French company and the French have been less than supportive of our efforts in the war.
I know there are a lot of veterans and patriots out there who are boycotting French products. I for one have held off buying Raven Shield and Splinter Cell (although it is almost KILLING ME) for this very reason.
Just a thought . . .

Thanks for your comments Bill. I wonder how many others have thought of that angle.
I'd like to say that although the French government is not supporting the coalition effort in Iraq, it doesn't mean that everyone in the population agrees.
Up here in Canada, many people I know are very disappointed in our government for not supporting the British and US, who are two of our oldest and closest allies. However, they often aren't as vocal as the anti-war protestors. |
