I'd also like to know why you can't boot off the drive - assuming, of course, you have an OS installed and the memory is being maintained while the computer is off. Obviously booting off the thing isn't going to be easy, but to put it in the realm of impossibility seems unfair. If I had the money to plop down on the drive right now I've got quite a few ideas on how to make a machine boot off it that I'd really like to test.
