I would like to make the mortar more usable. It needs some reference point that establishes level. over varied terrain the horizon is not very usable. Any ideas on a level mark for this weapon. possibly an aiming stake with the top allways indicating level? thanks, |

War of Infamy's mortar has a reticle with ticks every 10m and its calibrated for accuracy. You must run in 800x600 video res for it to be exactly on. cliff heights and such though will change dynamically because of the projectiles path, there's really no way to measure that without knowing the exact elevations and allowing adjustments in game for calibrating the ret to that elevation. But with an explosion radius of 10m approx, then you can afford to be off a little bit due to those elevation changes.
Dunno what mod you're talking about specifically, but when I calibrated the ret, I kept my video mode specific. Then I laid down on the ground and remapped the reload and fire key so I didn't have to touch the mouse (and move my calibration position). Then I fired sequences of rounds and switched to my bino's and got the distance to the middle of each explosion texture. I then took a felt non-perm marker and drew a line on my monitor screen over the explosion mark and wrote its distance down. When I had my graduations set I spent some time testing them in new locations. When I had them to where I could use bino's to gauge distance to target, could prone and fire, and hit those marks dead on, then I exited GR and opened Photoshop. Then I used those marks on the screen as an overlay to draw up the reticle template and walla, a calibrate mortar ret was born.
Hope that'll help you in whatever you might be trying to do. |
