Well I finally figured out what I’m doing for my graduation project for Heald College. I’m building a “Set-Top DVD/DivX Entertainment Module.” This is going to be a stripped down computer that only plays DVD’s/DivX’s, and still thinking about having a TV Input/Output functions such as TIVO, or WebTV, while providing the same ease-of-use found in any the above mentioned devices. Everything will be custom and or modded and far as the case, CD-ROM, Hard drive. There will be no mouse but maybe a keyboard cause all the functions will be programmed into a remote control allowing the box to be very versatile in any situation which is one of the main goals of this project. As of now I’m not sure on the OS I will be using maybe Linux, Maybe Win2k with those in mind the system MUST be stable and very customizable so I can upgrade and change it in the future.
I had to turn in my rough draft paper work Thursday for the project so the teachers in charge of the projects can approve, and then just help you and check up with you in the next 2/3 terms we are there. Since I’ll be gone in Spain next term, I’ll actually have an extra term to build/mod and research for my project so it will be really nice.
Other than school, and looking for jobs I have been working on a “backbone” with Access and ASP for a webpage I’m working on. Basically I’m trying to learn how to make a whole site take its content from the database and display it.
Take it easy and have a great Fathers Day! (Sunday 16th)
