With LCD monitor prices coming down, widescreen gaming is becoming more affordable. I recently bought a Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW 20" widescreen LCD (1680x1050 native resolution, 16:10 ratio) and I was pleasantly surprised and impressed that Rogue Spear has native support for widescreen gaming!
It appears that Rogue Spear detects the supported screen resolutions for the installed monitor and allows for those resolutions in the Options menu. It is very impressive that Red Storm engineers implemented this feature way back in 1999 - years before widescreen monitors even showed up on the horizon.
Rogue Spear's Graphics Options menu automatically detects supported screen resolutions (Click image to see full-size screenshot) For fun, I reinstalled the original Rainbow Six PC to see if it has widescreen support ... nope, it would have been too good to be true if it did :-) The original R6 it maxes out at 1024x768.
