Hi dbzvegeta2001, welcome to our forums.
Can you tell us which driver you installed for your GeForce FX 5200 card? I would recommend you get the most up to date on here at nvidia.com: http://nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp |

Yes it can. The only thing I would recommend is you should upgrade your memory to 256MB for better performance with WinXP.
Official WinXP System Reqs: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/upgrading/sysreqs.mspx
Here's What You Need to Use Windows XP Professional • PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required (single or dual processor system);* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended • 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features) • 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space* • Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor

You need to be a bit more specific: are you saying that your 3D games run fine, but your 2D graphics programs freeze? Does all of WinXP freeze (i.e. you have to press the reset button) or is WinXP still fine, and you able to shut down Photoshop and restart the program without rebooting? |

| im saying that my pc works well with other programs, except for the graphic applications like photoshop 7 and corel 12. the windows xp's okay. yeah, my when my photoshop 7 freezes, i cant shut down the program (not responding), sometimes photoshop can shut down without rebooting but it takes time...when i usually work with photoshop, it freezes and it displays (not responding) then ill leave it for 15 minutes and it will be running again... |

This sounds like a software problem, not hardware.
The very first thing to do is scan your computer for viruses and spyware. Then see if Photoshop still freezes if it's the only app that you are running. Also, if you are not using a licensed copy of Photoshop, it may be corrupted.
The last thing is ... especially for Photoshop, it is possible that if you increase the size of your virtual cache, it may improve things. You can do this by Right-click on My Computer -> In the System Properties dialog box, pick the "Advanced" tab -> Click the Settings button under "Performance" -> Click the Advanced tab -> Let us know how much memory is allocated under Virtual Memory. (This is how much space Windows/Photoshop/other apps can use on your hard drive when they run out of space in the memory.)
I personally set my minimum and maximum to 2GB.
You have 512MB RAM which is OK for XP and casual graphics editing, but if you are doing a lot, you should consider upgrading to >1GB RAM, especially now that DDR400 RAM is quite inexpensive. |

Hi! Im new here and I need help with my graphic card too, I also have an inno3d geforce fx5200 128mb ram graphic card. I installed it in my computer which has winxp,512mb ram, intel celeron 2400ghz and 80 gigs harddisk. The problem is that whenever I acces the nView options, the screen goes black for a few seconds then returns ( it does not freeze ) and then, when I rightclick on a videofile it also does that, and sometimes when I play a game. Everything returns like normal after that but it is very annoying, and I don't know if I installed it wrong or something. So please please help me?

Hi D.A! Welcome to our forums.
We need a bit more info: - Were you using a different video card in the same system before the inno3d 5200? Did you uninstall the previous drivers? - What version nVidia drivers are you using? - Do you have 2 monitors hooked up to your video card? If not, there is no point using nView, and I personally always leave it disabled. |

Hey I am using the latest drivers that I got from the Nvidia site. I did use a different card before, the one I got with the computer, intel r extreme graphics. And I have them disabled. I am only using one monitor, so the monitor is the only thing hooked up to the graphic card...I don't know if I disabled the nview now or not, at least it's not in the taskbar anymore. So, is there something wrong with my graphic card? Or is there something that I can do? ( Now it doesn't go black when I rightclick on a videofile ) But it still does that when I start the computer, and sometimes in the game ( and also when I change the graphical options... ) |

I would recommend you temporarily remove the GeForce 5200 and re-enable your Intel video chip to see if things work fine again. If your monitor doesn't have problems with the onboard Intel Extreme Graphics video chip, then it's not a problem with your monitor or software.
Does your 5200 have a fan on it? Check to see if it's spinning properly as it may be an overheating issue. Otherwise, if you re-tried the Intel video chip with success and the 5200 is still giving you problems, it may be time to exchange the card (hopefully it's still under warranty). |
