The Holiday 2004 issue of PC Gamer magazine (with World of Warcraft on the cover) has just hit news stands and it features a DVD demo disc which includes the full version of the original Rainbow Six for PC!
So if you've only recently discovered the R6 series with Raven Shield, make sure you don't miss the opportunity to see how the whole franchise started with the original classic game.
Oh wow, this will definately make for some great retro gaming! I haven't fired up the original R6 in several years. It will be interesting to see my impressions of after it has aged. I still remember the WOW!! factor from playing the beta and the Amazon mission.
I recently picked up the PC Gamer issue with R6 on the DVD. Here is the deal on all versions of Rainbow Six:
1. Rainbow Six Original CD from 1998 - Full install does not require CD to play, does not have support for WinXP obviously
2. Rainbow Six from Tom Clancy's CT Classics game pack - Updated version with WinXP support (basically writes registry entries) and requires CD to play
3. Rainbow Six "free" with PC Gamer - Updated version with WinXP support and does NOT require CD to play with full install.
