The GR2 preview in the July issue of PC Gamer (U.S.) has this interesting bit of trivia: The internal code-name used at Red Storm for the Ghost Recon 2 project is "Stonewall". Contrary to some fan speculation, this name does not mean that RSE plans to stonewall fans :-) Red Storm is just keeping with their long tradition of using names of famous generals for code-names of their games in development.
In GR2’s case, "Stonewall" refers to Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, one of the Confederate commanders during the American Civil War.
We’ve been keeping track of the code-names used for several other Red Storm games, and here’s the list so far: Rainbow Six: "Sherman" Eagle Watch: "MacArthur" Rogue Spear: "Rommel" Urban Ops: "Patton" Shadow Watch: "York" Force 21: "Genghis" Ghost Recon 1: "Ike" (as in Eisenhower) Desert Siege: "Powell" Island Thunder: "Kincaid" Sum of All Fears: "Hannibal" |
