One very important feature that Ubisoft has not emphasized enough about the new "Tom Clancy's Counter-Terrorism Classics Pack" is that it includes revamped versions of the original Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear that have been updated to install and run smoothly on Windows 2000 and XP.
So not only is this special bundle great for newcomers to catch up on older Clancy titles, it also would be worthwhile for you R6 old schoolers to pick up as it offers easy installation (i.e. no registry hacking :-) for Win XP systems.

| Can't you just use the application compatibility option in XP just like you can in 2K for Rainbow Six? |

| Yes, you can. I actually personally haven't had any probs installing R6/RS on my WinXP rig. However, quite a few people have had trouble with it, so it's good to see RSE responding to this issue by updating the installer. |

Sorry I wasn't clear, but I was referring to installing the original Rainbow Six in Win2K. See the following link for details on how we used to get it to work ;-) http://www.agr-s.com/html_reports/fieldreport0029.htm
Rogue Spear should really run with no problems in Win2K/WinXP if you use the latest patch (v2.05) or install Urban Ops. The nice thing about the CT pack is it should run on Win2K/WinXP right out of the box without patches.
We have lots of help in our forums about this issue. Click the "Search" button at the top of the forums and enter "v2.05" and search the R6 Series and Discussion forums and you'll find lots of threads that may answer your questions. |

Yeah, if you read my reply carefully, I said it was for Rainbow Six, not Rogue Spear :-)

Yeah, it's a problem with WinXP where the dialog box that says it was successfully patched for some reason appears *behind* the cmd window. When you see the cmd window is finished, either hit Alt-Tab or the Start button to find the dialog box where it states your patch was successful, and continue from there. |

Ive got a question and im wondering if its an XP issue.
i recently got a new computer. windows xp. nvidia geforce card. and whenever i load a level in rogue spear everything looks great. if i dont touch the mouse and move the guy foward or backwards or strafe side to side, everything looks fine. but the moment i use the mouse to look around, the screen bounces a little. and from there on, the screen shakes a little the whole time. its not a major shake. its very slight but its awfully annoying.
i thought maybe the mouse had a problem but i tried various mice and the same thing occured.
do yall think this has anything to do with using XP as my OS? |

| I was wondering if anyone has had any lag issue with Rogue Spear/Urban Ops in the multi player setting. I have a great new computer, 9800pro vid card. Audigy platinum, 768mb ram. amd xp3200. All the guys i am trying to play with have similar if not better machines. We all use Broadband or DSL. When we play in single player mode it is smooth as butter, however multi player is attrocious. Only the host is ok. Is there a netcode tweak or something that makes this playable to large groups. We figure since this game was made for the old Dial up connections that maybe the faster upload speeds is killing our connections. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

What kind of ping do you get between you and your buddies?
You're right that it doesn't make sense that a game that worked decently on dial-up should lag so much on broadband.
In the options menu, try the different settings in the MP Game menu. |
