I'm glad to see Time Magazine's annual pick for "Person of the Year" went to the American Soldier for 2003. This issue is worth picking up at your local newsstand for 2 excellent articles:Portrait of a Platoon - This gives a very human face to the almost daily news of casualties in Iraq. It describes the sacrifice of a former Special Forces officer who inspired a platoon of soldiers to work as a cohesive unit.Secretary of War - Talks about how the current U.S. Secretary of Defense is trying to remake the U.S. military into a smaller, more efficient force that enlarges the role of Special Ops units.
Note: It looks like Time has changed their policy and you need to be a subscriber to read the full articles online. |
