I saw no less than 4 game magazines featuring previews of Pandora Tomorrow at my local bookstore today! The best preview by far was the 10-page article in Computer Games magazine. Their article featured quotes from some of the original SC game designers at Ubisoft Montreal which are working on Pandora Tomorrow. Here's a summary of some of the new and juicy info about SC:PT below:
GameplayThe main differences from the original SC are that SC:PT occurs more outdoors, and offers more non-linear paths through levels.Sam will get new moves such as hanging from pipes by his legs and shooting, throwing grenades around corners, and dropping flashbangs while running away from enemies.
WeaponsSam’s newest weapon is a 5.72mm "FN7" pistol. It packs a laser pointer for more accurate aiming.
CharactersUbisoft confirmed that familiar characters such as Irving Lambert, Anna Grimsdotter, and Frances Coen will be reappearing.
SettingsOnce again, Sam will be traipsing around the world. The two levels which were revealed are located in an Indonesian village and a moving train travelling through Europe.
MultiplayerBy far the most heralded aspect of SC:PT is its multiplayer component. Multiplayer has been confirmed to be 2 vs. 2, where it's "Spies vs. Mercenaries".Half the players are "Spies" and try to rely more on stealth to win. Spies use a third-person view which makes it easier to find dark corners to hide.Mercs have the more limited first-person view, but have more firepower. They also have a special EMF view which detects Spies wearing their thermal goggles!
Release DateUbisoft is aiming for a release on multiple platforms (including the PC!) by March 2004.
The Holiday 2003 issue of the Official Xbox Magazine (with GTA on the cover), the Jan 2004 issue of Computer Gaming World, and the Jan 2004 issue of GamePro all have shorter previews of the game. |
