Music 4 Games.net has posted a great interview with composer Bill Brown. He speaks on a variety of topics, and of course touches on a series near and dear to this site: M4G - You've been involved in a lot of the Tom Clancy inspired games now, does the job of composing the soundtrack for them get easier or harder as the series progresses?
BB - That is a good question… Every time I jump back into the Rainbow Six series, which has been quite a few times now, I seem to have an entirely new enthusiasm for the possibilities available from the original themes from about five years ago. I'm in the middle of writing music for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Raven Shield and I feel the new themes are really fresh, yet also resonate with the past themes from the Rainbow series. I wanted to write something for Rainbow that is more "cinematic" this time, but would still translate well over the various emotional points in the game. Even though the original themes are still an integral part of the Clancy series, it's great to be able to expand on them and take the music to the next level. It's kind of like writing a sort of "ring-cycle"; it just keeps evolving as the series continues.
