I just want to make sure that I am, in fact, going completely insane. First mission on a freshly installed Ghost Recon, the game I've been coveting for months after a short stop in an internet bar. I've already been killed several times so I look around for some cheats just to make it through this mision, I turn on a few and proceed to run through the level kicking ass left and right. However at the cave, upon entrance to most horrific sound issued forth. Words cannot possibly edscribe the chord of terror this noise struck within me. It sounded a little like feedback, it grew exponentially in volume until it felt like it would wake the entire neighborhood (oddly enough my speakers didn't have any problem emitting a sound this loud while they can't produce a funky bass techno song for the life of them.) I ran screming from the cave and entered the next time with caution, entering long enough to merely hear the first little bit of the noise. Something is wrong with the caves and I wanted to know if anyone else had had this problem or if I'm going completely insane. As for why I was so terrified by it is probably subject of another conversation all together... Thanks in advance. |

The same thing happened to me.. I got around it by going to "Sounds" setup and unchecking those two "x" boxes..Give it a shot!

Pretty sure its the EAX that is creating the "feedback" (virtual echo that feeds off itself on the cave walls basically)... happened to me before as well. I disabled EAX for a while, but recently enabled it again because I updated my sound drivers.... haven't had a problem since...

This is a known bug that happens when you go indoors. I believe it was addressed with the latest Ghost Recon patch. Are you all patched up?Also, make sure you have the latest sound card drivers for your hardware! --- Aaron "Snicker" Benzick Editor-in-Chief 3d Retreat |

Yup, I had the same exact problems you're having. That horrible noise seemed to occur everywhere that had echoes in the environment (inside buildings, caves, alleyways, etc). It's a bug with most Sound Blaster Live cards. I got it fixed though by downloading the latest drivers for my Sound Blaster Live card at http://www.soundblaster.com/support/drivers/ . Also, there is a whole thread devoted to this problem on the official GR boards at http://forums.ubi.com/messages/message_view-topic.asp?name=us_ghostrecon_ts&id=zzgca .Between these two links this should solve your problem. - Matt Vegas_Mith
