WhiteKnight77 sends us word that the UK version of Black Thorn is significantly different than the US and continental European versions (French, German, etc.). As many of you probably noticed, the Bus Station map in BT is way too large for a bus terminal, and was in fact originally an airport terminal before BT was modified due to the events of Sept 11.
For some strange reason, Ubi Soft decided that UK gamers will get BT with the airport terminal unmodified. This has created a major multiplayer problem in that UK gamers cannot play this map with anyone else outside the UK.
**UPDATE: Endi_Six of Endi_Six News and Mods let us know that BT sold in Italy is the UK English version (uses the same UK CD) so UK players can play the airport terminal map with Italian players :-)
WhiteKnight77 has posted a report on this issue, and check out his findings here.
Trivia Question: Anyone out there can tell me what historic CT mission the Bus Station was supposed to copycat? Here's a hint: notice that BT's QA missed replacing the satellite map with a map of South Africa when this mission was modified ;-)

I agree with you that Isreal's famous CT operation in Entebbe, Uganda was the intended original historic mission that was copied. Although the mission says it's in "South Africa", the satellite map still shows East Africa, where Uganda is located. |

I'm curious what kind of ping times do you guys get when playing cross-Atlantic games?

I haven't pinged WK in some time :o) But since he got ADSL we generally get great games, usually he hosts about 4-6 guys most nights of the week.
Sometimes it gets a little mad with 8-10 regulars all appearing at once, and us UK guys make our excuses and leave, but on the whole RS plays great, and the limited time I have played his GR server it was all good too! |

Yes, apparently they removed the entire first mission and radically changed a second.
The very first mission was an assault on an airplane with objectives of rescuing hostages and disarming a bomb. You can still see some files from it (including the 'briefing' pictures and the text of Kevin Sweeney's briefing) by searching your hard drive for "BT01".
The second mission to be changed was (as posted above) apparently originally set in an airport. Now the US version is set in a bus station while the European version is still in an airport.
While I sympathize with RSE and Ubi's desire to spare us unpleasant memories, personally I’m adult enough to cope with it. I'd urge them to republish those missions as originally intended in a patch.

I agree, my fav Rs mission was the airplane one, and I was looking forward to Bt's airline mission.
A patch or something with it would be cool
