Since the release of the Black
Thorn Patch 2.61 Patch
I have been receiving a lot of emails, and
questions about the Black Thorn “Old File Not Found” error that you receive
when trying to update Black Thorn to 2.61. I have been reading the http://www.ubi.com/US/CommunityZone/Forums/ForumListing?id=5>Official
Black Thorn Forums and have found little or no solution for this error.
I have however come up with a list of possible solutions you can try to
fix this error:

- Make sure you play the game before you update
it (play a full mission at least).

- Restart your computer before, and after you apply the patch.

- Make sure that you properly directed the patch to the game installation
folder.

- Once finished with the installation of the 2.61 patch, check the version
number in the bottom left corner of the main menu to verify the patch
installed correctly.

- You have a “leaked” or “warez” copy and therefore the patch Will NOT
Work.

- You may have a virus on your computer causing the patch to fail.

- Uninstall RS/UO/COE and BT then re-install each game separately and
reboot after each game you have installed. Install the proper patches
as you reboot and install. Then open and install the patch into the “Redstorm
Entertainment folder."

http://www.dabroz.info/>Murmis has also come
up with his own "fix.”

1.) Get a hex-editor like http://www.ultraedit.com/>UltraEdit
and open BlackThorn.exe in it.

2.) Search the file for 2.60 (check "Find ASCII" if it's an option) and
replace it with 2.61.

3.) Save your work and have fun.

Please post all comment, fixes, errors, and problems about the 2.61 patch
in our forums. If you have contacted us through http://files.3dretreat.com>File
Retreat about this issue, we are not ignoring you, we are try to research
and find out the answer to this problem just like you.
